Canada Tourist Visa FAQ

Visitors may be authorized to stay for up to a maximum of six (6) months at a time with a Canada Tourist Visa. It is up to the immigration officer at the port of entry who will determine the length of time given.

Once you are in Canada, if you decide to stay beyond the authorized period, you must make a formal request to Citizenship & Immigration Canada (CIC). You must continue to meet the above requirements. If you are denied an extension, you must leave Canada immediately. If you are currently in Canada with a Canada Tourist Visa and are interested in extending your stay, contact us for more information.

Single entry visas are issued to those who would like to make a one-time trip to Canada. Multiple entry visas allow you to enter and exit Canada throughout the duration of the visa. Multiple entry visas may be valid for 5-10 years.

If you are currently in Canada temporarily with a valid Canada Tourist Visa and wish to remain in Canada for work and/or study, you may apply for a temporary work permit or study permit. If your course of study is less than 6 months, you may not need a study permit. However, if you intend to stay in Canada for longer than 6 months, you must apply for either a Canada work permit, student visa, or an extension of your Canada tourist visa. For those who are interested in a more permanent stay, there are many different options for immigration to Canada. Contact our office for more information about temporary and permanent visas to Canada.

Please note that receipt of your Canada Tourist Visa does not guarantee you entrance into Canada. In order to be allowed to enter Canada, you must satisfy an immigration officer at the Canadian Port of Entry that you intend to remain in Canada only temporarily and have valid ties to your home country. You may be denied entrance into Canada if the immigration officer has reason to believe you will remain in Canada beyond the validity of your Canada Tourist Visa. Our immigration consultants have years of experience dealing with Citizenship and Immigration Canada Officers and can assist you in making sure you have all the necessary documentation to satisfy the requirements of the Canada Tourist Visa. With our help, we guarantee you will not be denied entrance into Canada once you have been approved for and received your Canada Tourist Visa.
