Program Requirements

If you are a skilled worker looking to settle in New Brunswick, you may be eligible to apply for the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program if you meet the following basic requirements:

  • have a genuine, guaranteed offer of permanent employment from a New Brunswick employer,
  • are between 22 and 55 years of age,
  • have sufficient language skills (either English or French) to be successful in the workplace and in your everyday activities in the province of New Brunswick,
  • have the necessary training and/or education and qualifications to fulfill your job duties

Applicants for this category of the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program will be assessed on a number of factors for which they will receive points and must achieve a minimum score in order to be nominated for the program. You will be assessed based on the following factors:

  1. Age
  2. Language
  3. Education
  4. Adaptability
  5. Work Experience

This category of the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program allows citizens and permanent residents of New Brunswick who have been living in the province for at least one (1) year to assist family members to settle in New Brunswick.

As an applicant for the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program, you will be assessed on a number of factors. You must meet the following basic requirements:

  • have an offer of full-time employment or have the necessary education and training to fulfill the job duties of your intended occupation,
  • have sufficient language skills (either English or French) to be successful in the workplace and in your everyday activities in the province of New Brunswick,
  • have at least 2 years of continuous, full-time work experience in a qualifying occupation,
  • be between 22 and 50 years of age,
  • have the necessary funds to settle in New Brunswick (minimum amount varies based on the number of dependents and/or accompanying family members),
  • be a close relative of a family member who is a resident of New Brunswick, and
  • show that you have sufficient ties to the province which will assist you in adapting to the life there.

The supporting family member is assessed based on their commitment to the immigration process and the successful settlement of their family member. The family supporter must also meet some basic requirements in order to qualify.

  • Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who is residing full-time in the province of New Brunswick,
  • Must be working in New Brunswick for at least 12 consecutive months in a qualified occupation or have been operating a business in New Brunswick for at least 12 consecutive months, and
  • Must be financially independent.

Family members can only support one applicant at a time. If you have already supported another family member for the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program, they must first be established in New Brunswick before you may apply to support another family member. As the supporting family member of the applicant, you will also be required to assist the applicant in creating a settlement plan. If you are a business owner or operator interested in living and operating a business in New Brunswick then you may qualify to apply under the Business Applicants stream of the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program. Before you can apply for this program, you must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • be willing and able to establish a business in New Brunswick,
  • be willing to sign an agreement to settle permanently in New Brunswick,
  • have sufficient funds to finance the planned business venture and to support yourself and your family for a period of up to two (2) years,
  • participate in the business in an active managerial role, and
  • complete an exploratory visit to New Brunswick.
  • Have an approved business plan or business proposal.
  • Make a $75,000 conditionally refundable deposit.
  • Be able to speak English and/or French, and if not, be prepared to take intensive language lessons prior to being nominated.

As a business applicant for the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program, you will be assessed on the following factors:

  1. Age
  2. Language
  3. Education
  4. Adaptability
  5. Management Experience

You must meet the minimum score required in each of these 5 categories to be eligible to apply as a business applicant. The application process for business applicants is very complex and requires that you first request and be allowed to enter Canada for a business trip to New Brunswick to do research and participate in an interview with an immigration officer. The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) accelerates the permanent resident application process for skilled and/or experienced workers, experienced business persons and their family members who want to settle in the province of British Columbia. This program is split into two categories: Strategic Occupations and Business Immigration. To apply for the BC Provincial Nominee Program under one of these two categories, you must meet the basic requirements set by the province of British Colombia:

The Province of Manitoba has designed their Provincial Nominee Program to invite qualified skilled workers and business people looking to immigrate to Canada. The province of Ontario has created an employer-driven program which requires that candidates have a permanent full-time job offer from an Ontario employer or a PhD. from a publicly funded Ontario University. There are three categories available under this program:

  • Ontario PNP General Category – for foreign workers with a full-time job offer and at least 2 years of work experience.
  • International Students – for students who have a job offer, a PhD, or a Master’s degree.
  • Investors – for individuals or companies looking to make an investment in the province of Ontario

Prince Edward Island has split their Nominee Program into seven (7) categories. If you are a worker, student or business owner who is interested in immigrating and settling in Prince Edward Island, you may fit into one of the following categories:

  • Skilled Workers Category – you must have a job offer in a skilled position along with education and training consistent with the position offered.
  • Critical Workers Category – you must have a job offer in one of the province’s in-demand occupations (follow the link below to see a list of these occupations).
  • International Graduates Category – you must have graduated from a full-time study at an accredited Canadian University or College within the past two years, have a minimum of six (6) months of work experience and a job offer in a skilled position.
  • Family Connections Category – if you have family members residing in Prince Edward Island for more than two years as Canadian permanent residents or citizens with a regular source of income and an unblemished personal history, your family may nominate you for this category as long as you are willing and able to work.
  • 100% Business Ownership Category – you must meet all the requirements to establish and operate a business in Prince Edward Island (see link below for full list of requirements)
  • Partial Business Ownership Category – if you control more than 1/3 of the equity in the business and meet the other requirements to establish and operate a business, you may qualify for the program under this category.
  • Work Permits Category – you must be eligible and willing to apply for approval of a work permit for the Prince Edward Island business where you intend to work and invest and meet all the requirements to establish and operate a business in Prince Edward Island.
