The Business Impact Category of the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program provides great opportunities for business owners and/or investors wishing to immigrate to Prince Edward Island. Applicants under this category must show that they will be an asset to the growing economy of the province of Prince Edward Island. There are three streams for this category of the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program. Click on any of the following three streams to read the requirements for that particular stream:

To qualify in the 100% Ownership stream of the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program, an applicant must:

• Have the age, education, work experience, adaptability and language skills necessary to establish and operate a business in Prince Edward Island;
• Have a personal net worth of at least $400,000 CDN;
• Deposit $100,000 CDN, which is held in escrow;
• Make a minimum $150,000 CDN investment to start or purchase an eligible business in Prince Edward Island;
• Control 100% of the business and provide active and on-going management of the business from within Prince Edward Island;
• Have a settlement proposal outlining the intention to move and settle in Prince Edward Island; and
• Submit a business plan after an exploratory visit to Prince Edward Island.

To qualify in the Partial Ownership stream of the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program, an applicant must:

• Have the age, education, work experience, adaptability and language skills necessary to establish and operate a business in Prince Edward Island;
• Have a personal net worth of at least $400,000 CDN;
• Deposit $100,000 CDN, which is held in escrow;
• Make a minimum investment of $150,000 CDN in a Prince Edward Island business;
• Control more than 33.3% of the equity in the business or make an equity investment in the business of at least $1,000,000 CDN;
• Provide active and on-going management of the business from within Prince Edward Island;
• Have a settlement proposal outlining the intention to move and settle in Prince Edward Island; and
• Submit a business plan after an exploratory visit to Prince Edward Island

To qualify in the Work Permit stream of the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program, an applicant must:

• Have the age, education, work experience, adaptability and language skills necessary to establish and operate a business in Prince Edward Island;
• Be eligible and willing to apply to CIC for approval of a work permit for the Prince Edward Island business where the applicant intends to work and invest in.
• Have a personal net worth of at least $400,000 CDN;
• Make a minimum investment of $150,000 CDN in a Prince Edward Island business;
• Control more than 33.3% of the equity in the business or make an equity investment in the business of at least $1,000,000 CDN;
• Provide active and on-going management of the business from within Prince Edward Island;
• Have a settlement proposal outlining the intention to move and settle in Prince Edward Island; and
• Submit a business plan after an exploratory visit to Prince Edward Island.

The Labour Impact Category of the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program provides opportunities for employers of Prince Edward Island and foreign workers looking to settle in Prince Edward Island. This category is split into two (2) streams – select one of the streams to read the requirements of the program.

To qualify in the Skilled Worker category of the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program, applicants must:

• Score at least 50 points on the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program Self-Assessment form;
• Have a Prince Edward Island job offer for a skilled position;
• Have education and training consistent with the position offered;
• Have a command of the English and French language, if required for the position; and
• Intend to settle in Prince Edward Island.

To qualify in the critical workers category of the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program, applicants must:

• Have a Prince Edward Island job offer in skill level C or D in one of the following occupations:
  • Truck driver
  • Customer service representative
  • Labourer
  • Food & beverage server
  • Housekeeping attendant
• Have a minimum of six (6) months of work experience for a Prince Edward Island employer;
• Score at least 50 points on the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program Self-Assessment form;
• Intend to settle in Prince Edward Island;
• Meet at least some of the following criteria:
  • Be less than 55 years of age;
  • Have a minimum 12 years of education, including a high school diploma;
  • Completed at least two years of full-time work experience within the past five years
  • Be capable of being interviewed in English or French; and
  • A command of the English and French language, if required for the position

Two streams under the Labour Impact Category of the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program were recently closed and applications are no longer accepted for the International Graduate Stream and the Family Connection Stream of the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program as of December 2012. The reason for eliminating these two streams of the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program is that they are very similar to other Federal and Provincial immigration programs. International Students who wish to reside in Prince Edward Island may still apply for immigration to Canada with a similar set of requirements as the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program. International Graduates who want to immigrate to Prince Edward Island may be eligible to apply for permanent residence under the Canadian Experience Class. The second stream of the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program that was shut down is the Family Connection Stream, which was also under the Labour Impact Category. The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) accelerates the permanent resident application process for skilled and/or experienced workers, experienced business persons and their family members who want to settle in the province of British Columbia. This program is split into two categories: Strategic Occupations and Business Immigration. To apply for the BC Provincial Nominee Program under one of these two categories, you must meet the basic requirements set by the province of British Colombia:

The Province of Manitoba has designed their Provincial Nominee Program to invite qualified skilled workers and business people looking to immigrate to Canada. The province of Ontario has created an employer-driven program which requires that candidates have a permanent full-time job offer from an Ontario employer or a PhD. from a publicly funded Ontario University. There are three categories available under this program:

• Ontario PNP General Category – for foreign workers with a full-time job offer and at least 2 years of work experience.
• International Students – for students who have a job offer, a PhD, or a Master’s degree.
• Investors – for individuals or companies looking to make an investment in the province of Ontario

Prince Edward Island has split their Nominee Program into seven (7) categories. If you are a worker, student or business owner who is interested in immigrating and settling in Prince Edward Island, you may fit into one of the following categories:

• Skilled Workers Category – you must have a job offer in a skilled position along with education and training consistent with the position offered.

• Family Connections Category – if you have family members residing in Prince Edward Island for more than two years as Canadian permanent residents or citizens with a regular source of income and an unblemished personal history, your family may nominate you for this category as long as you are willing and able to work.
• 100% Business Ownership Category – you must meet all the requirements to establish and operate a business in Prince Edward Island (see link below for full list of requirements)
• Partial Business Ownership Category – if you control more than 1/3 of the equity in the business and meet the other requirements to establish and operate a business, you may qualify for the program under this category.
• Work Permits Category – you must be eligible and willing to apply for approval of a work permit for the Prince Edward Island business where you intend to work and invest and meet all the requirements to establish and operate a business in Prince Edward Island.
